In July 2007, Eastern Ice announced its decision to move from Newport, RI to the Fall River Commerce Park pending the approval of a tax increment financing agreement with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the City of Fall River. Such approval was secured in September 2007 and the company proceeded with the construction of the new facility throughout the winter months so as to be ready for the spring and summer product demand. In addition to its $4.5 million investment for the new facility, Eastern Ice, which is operated by C. Joseph Rossi and David F. Rossi, has committed to creating 13 new permanent full time jobs over the next three years. The Rossis commented that “They are particularly pleased to be in Fall River and operating in a new state of the art facility which will help increase productivity and employment opportunities for residents of Fall River and the surrounding areas.
